Equalization, explained with a spoon
Equalization sounds like magic — move air from your lungs to your ears while upside down and falling. It isn't magic. It's a spoon.
The spoon
Put a spoon on the back of your tongue. Push up with the base of the tongue, like you're trying to say the letter K without moving your lips. Feel the back of your throat close? That piston motion is Frenzel — and it's ninety percent of equalizing.
Practice on the couch
You can train Frenzel anywhere, dry, with no pressure at all. Do it a thousand times on the surface and your first real dive will already feel automatic.
